I have to do a tribute speech in my speech class and I thought I would do it on Professor Tolkien, talk about his other, non Middle Earth, literature projects like Leaf by Niggle and his translation, also I would talk about his academic career and that sort of thing. Does anyone know of a good quote from Professor Tolkien that I could use for the begining of the speech? Thank you

Ooh! I've got one! Used it in a paper three (four?) years ago.
Once, in an interview, a reporter asked Tolkien “what made him tick.” The author replied, “I don’t tick. I am not a machine. (If I did tick, I should have no views on it, and you had better ask the winder.)”

I assume by now you've made your speech. So how did it go?
