My sister has a "thing" against "superhero" films. She says that there is a glut on right now for any type of SH material, and in a way she is exactly right. The same thing has happed in the Fantasy genre with the success of LOTR and LWW...but back to superheros. There is nothing "super" about Bruce Wayne other than his hard nose attitude, commitment and billion dollar estate. I alway figured him as a vigilante James Bond with no "M" to report to and creating his own missions. This has always intrigued me because as a youth I thought of all the comic-book heroes out there, Batman is the closes to being probable. Some Navy Seal/Air-force Ranger/Green Beret training with Bill Gate's assets...and there you have it! ;D
I saw "The Dark Knight" at the midnight showing. I recommend the 12:01 am showings to see any big film you have been eagerly anticipating. There is so much good will and excitement among the audience and you don't have crying babies or idiot's just there because some other movie sold out or was way past the start time. You had guys in full Batman gear and some dressed as the Joker with makeup. Some of the ladies were dressed like Catwoman...meow...
I really liked the film and would rank it as the best film that I have seen this year. It is mature, not campy, more like an action/drama film than a straight summer popcorn movie. All the acting is on the level and Mr. Ledger was the right man for the job of the villain.
It is my vision that "The Silmarillon" would be similar in quality, technique, emotion, and attitude.
Check it out...AND PUT A SMILE ON THAT FACE!
