Scene: 11 - The Feast
DISSOLVE: INT: Finwë's Banquet Hall LONG SHOT: Guests are reclined yet attentively largely listening, emphatically, noiselessly as Finwë speaks about his experience concerning the coming of the elves to Aman.
Finwë: O.S.V. (to audience) ...and we walked about the waters of awakening and beheld the bright stars that Varda put in the sky. There was wonder but also fear. We where confronted by a secret danger...
CUT TO: FLASH BACK MONTAGE: While Finwë speaks, there are flash back sequences to show everything that he is talking about
...that threatened friends and family. Whispers about "the hunter" that would snatch away wandering elves, and indeed many were taken, never to be seen again. Apprehension was constant, but we still grew in knowledge and strength in the midst of fear. Then at a time unlooked for, one came who made the earth tremble. With loud horns blasting away the evil that lurked so near. Was it the "Hunter", which so many had feared; but if so, why would evil drive evil away?
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: As Finwë continues, Maedhros comes in by a small side door, approaches Nerdanel quietly and whispers to her. AUDIO F/X: O.S.V. [Finwë - There were no easy answers and no one willing to venture out to seek the origin of the mighty horns. Eru blessed us and what seemed to be by chance, Lord Oromë looked down on us from a high ridge...]
Maedhros: (to Nerdanel) No mother, not yet. I have looked everywhere and the forge is locked with the light out inside.
Nerdanel: (to Maedhros) Very well, thank you Maedhros.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Finwë at the head of a large table ZOOM IN SLOW: Down the table to Finwë
Finwë: (to the audience) ...He sat proud and mighty upon Nahar and it was an awesome sight to see. Many were afraid and thought that he was "the hunter", the rider of infamy. But I and a few others stood steadfast, and we perceived him to be a lord strong but good. We were drawn to him and learned much...
CUT TO: LONG SHOT: Many look on with interest and a few do not. Nerdanel is distracted by Fëanor's absence and quietly excuses herself from the table. She makes her way to the side door which Maedhros used as Finwë continues
AUDIO F/X: O.S.V. [Finwë Soon after, the Valar strove forth and a great battle was fought in the north to quell the evils that issued from there. Almost nothing was known of the war in those days to the elves...]
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Nerdanel comes out of the door and runs right into Fëanor. She speaks to him with a harsh whisper
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor, harsh but low) Fëanor!? Where have you been? You were to arrive hours ago!
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel) Be calm Nerdanel. You have become so ill-mannered after all these years.
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor, harsh but low) Ill-mannered! You come here late, no...not late, almost not at all, and you lay that false claim on me!? Do you know how many times your father has looked at your empty chair!?
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel) So, are you going to tell me how many, or are we going inside and prevent further delay?
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Nerdanel breaths deep and looks away from Fëanor. She goes back through the door with him following
CUT TO: LONG SHOT: MOVING SHOT: They take their seats as Finwë continues
Finwë: (to audience) Ingwe, Elwe, and I were chosen to come to Aman to see the blessed two trees of Valinor, Telperion and Laurelin along with all the other wonders of the Valar. This was done to ease the minds and spirits of those who had reservations about coming to the Blessed Realm.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: As Finwë speaks, Fëanor and his brothers exchange unpleasant looks. CUT TO: MONTAGE: Flashback/foreshadowing of Elwë as Finwë speaks
Finwë: O.S.V. (to audience) We brought back the report to the elves and many were stirred to make the journey and some were not. We traveled for many years over hills and mountains and across streams and rivers. On that long journey did we loose someone dear to our hearts, for Elwë and I were fast friends; he would journey to visit the Noldor when he had time. On one such trek he entered the woods and was not seen ever again. Many looked for him and would not leave that land because of the hope of finding him. After long searches and much delay, the host moved on with Olwë leading the Teleri forward in his brother, Elwë's, place.
CUT TO: MED SHOT: Olwë seating close to Finwë. PAN TO: Turgon at his table holding Elenwë's hand with their daughter Indril near. PAN TO: Fëanor's twins looking around and smiling at young elf maidens; who are smiling at Maedhros and he is actually trying to listen to Finwë. PAN TO: Caranthir and Celegrom occupied with food and drink as Finwë continues.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Nerdanel breaths deep and looks away from Fëanor. She goes back through the door with him following

PAN TO: Caranthir and Celegrom occupied with food and drink as Finwë continues.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Finwë continuing to stand with Indis now rising
Finwë: (to audience) Lord Ulmo assisted us greatly by providing a means to cross the great sea. Once here in Aman, the Teleri remained near the sea in beautiful Alqualonde. Aulë graciously took the Noldor under his tutelage while the Vanyar became devoted to Manwë's service. So to all the Valar, we of the Noldor and those of the other two kindreds that are present, salute you and honor you names, deeds and hearts.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Finwë motions and several elves come from doors unseen. MOVING SHOT: Gifts are brought to the only Valar present, Oromë and Aulë. They accept the gifts with nods and smiles.
Finwë: O.S.V. (to Aulë and Oromë) Though you may have no need for such gifts, please do take them as symbols of our appreciation and devotion. (pause) (to Olwë) And now, King Olwë, please stand.
CUT TO: MED SHOT: Olwë stands and comes close to Finwë. Finwë then reaches for a gift box that is given to him by Indis.
Finwë: (to Olwë) Olwë, I would like to present you also with a token of gratitude for friendship, kinship, and love you have afforded us and not in the least since you have allowed your daughter Eärwen to marry my youngest son Finarfin.
MED SHOT CONT'D: Finwë and Olwë laugh smile at each other as they embrace. Then Finwë hands Olwë the gift that is a miniature jeweled carving of a swan ship of Alqualonde.
Olwë: Thank you King Finwë; I had no reservations about Eärwen marrying Finarfin, for he has a good heart like his father. They both have blessed us with fine grandchildren.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: The kings look out fondly at Finarfin, Eärwen and their children.
CUT TO: MED SHOT: All in the house of Finarfin rise and give a small bow to the kings. MOVING SHOT: Finarfin, Orodreth and Finrod remain standing and approach Finwë and Olwë.
Finarfin: (to Finwë and Olwë) On behalf of your families who love you and would like to honor the leadership you displayed through hard paths that we did not traverse, we present these tokes to you.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT CONT'D: MOVING SHOT: Orodreth assist two elves that have come to the front with a rolled up, pure white, sparkling cloth. They unroll it and hold it up. It is flag bearing the standard of Alqualonde. A swan is featured in the center with Olwë's name and family seal. Everyone cheers except Fëanor who is visible put off. Olwë is very pleased.
Olwë: (to all) This is a most excellent gift; thank you my family, thank you.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: MOVING SHOT: Finrod walks nearer with a group of elves. They hold what appears to be a large tapestry. They spread out and it is a tapestry similar to the one in the Halls of Mandos, but smaller with a different color scheme and jewels on it. The tapestry is focused on the life and journey of Finwë. The audience stands, claps and cheers. Finwë is surprised and pleased. Fëanor is very upset.
Finarfin: (to Finwë and Olwë) Both of these were suggested by Fingolfin although he left me to carry out all the planning.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Fingolfin and Finarfin smile and laugh under their breaths at each other
Finwë: (to all) Very well done my sons; splendid, wonderful my children, this touches my heart! I see that my family has been busy beyond what my eyes could see.
CUT TO: MED SHOT: Fëanor walks towards Finwë from the side away from his brothers. Nerdanel get up and goes near as music starts up and the celebration activities continue.
Fëanor: (to Finwë, coldly) Yes, very busy father. I am gaining a clearer understanding of the true gifts that my brothers possess. I wonder what other surprises they have in store.
Fingolfin: (to Fëanor) Do I take that you approve of the gifts Fëanor? I know they may not be up to the high standards that you keep reserved for your creations, but many have labored long hours with patience and love to accomplish them.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Olwë bows to Finwë to gain his leave. Finwë bows to grant this and Olwë leaves the area with the gift and a small entourage.
Fëanor: (to Fingolfin) No doubt long hours were spent, but perhaps they could have been spent more wisely. The flag is decent, with its beauty coming from its simplicity. Of course, this would put it into a category for which you and Finarfin could easily govern.
Finwë: (to Fëanor) Fëanor, they are fine gifts given from the heart. Do not demean them because you had little part in their creation.
Fëanor: (to all) Little part, you mean no part, as you can tell by the outcome of both projects.
Fingolfin: (to Fëanor) Why should we bother to involve someone that prefers to work alone and shares little with anyone? You want us to come to you, as if we are incapable of doing for ourselves.
Fëanor: (to Fingolfin and Finarfin) You are wrong. Some things you do not need my help with; you are quite capable of looking foolish all by yourselves.
Finwë: (to all) That's enough. This is not the place, if there ever is one, to argue vain points. This is to be a pleasant time.
Fëanor: (to Finwë) I submit my apology father. I did not mean for you to become frustrated. Indis's sons have done their best to honor you. The needle work is well enough, even if it is below the quality that Míriel Serinde could have achieved.
Fingolfin: (to Fëanor, upset) You speak of honor but that concept is foreign to you!
MED. SHOT: Fëanor bows to Finwë and turns to leave. Nerdanel hesitates but follows him. Finwë sits in his chair worried as Indis holds his hand. Fingolfin tries to go after Fëanor but Finarfin stops him.
Fingolfin: (to Fëanor, upset, loud) What have you done to honor Finwë on this day or on any other day?!
Finarfin: (to Fingolfin) Hold Fingolfin. Let us not cause our father anymore stress than has already been issued. Fëanor will bait you into further argument. He is in the wrong, but he will twist your words into some vulgar pronouncement.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Finarfin guides Fingolfin back to the table with his hand on his shoulder. PAN PAST: A few guests disturbed by the argument. Others enjoy the music being played and happily talk. There is a call for Maglor to perform

Scene: 12 - Break Up and Birth Pains
FADE IN: EXT: Streets of Tirion MED SHOT: Fëanor and Nerdanel MOVING SHOT: Fëanor is fast on his way to his forge with Nerdanel following. She speaks loud but minds the other elves that they pass; Fëanor does not. The light of Mindon can be seen in the distance as they travel.
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel, loud) Must I explain myself again? Obviously you are unable to grasp it, although it is clear as Valmarian crystal.
Nerdanel: (to Feanor, upset, low) Yes Fëanor, it is beyond my ability to comprehend why you continually feud with your family. They have done no harm.
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel, loud, upset) No harm?! They sit around Finwë's house hoping for more favor than second and third sons should require or deserve.
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor, loud) They do no such thing! I have been in their presence many times and I have never witnessed any of what you suggest. If only you would spend more...
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel, very loud) More time with them?! Where are your loyalties Nerdanel?! When is it appropriate for the wife of the heir of King Finwë, to spend more time with his brothers than with him?!
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor, upset, distraught) Fëanor, how you make me suffer so! You shun my presence and then condemn me for being elsewhere?
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel) You have brought this on your head. Did I command you to stay away or cease from assisting me? My sons did not need extra attention but you insisted they did. Then you risked injuring them further by having them mingle with their lowly cousins.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Elves passing by overhear, but try not to pay attention to what should be a private conversation.
Nerdanel: (to Feanor) They are all family Fëanor. They should know and get along with each other. I spent time with our sons out of love. Is that not a mother's duty? I tried to help them blossom, those who had the heart to. I love you, and out of love I have struggled and labored so long, hoping that...
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel, cutting her off) You could smother me like you smothered Maedhros? And yet again you succeeded in alienating Maglor against working at the forge so now he sings and reads poems all day like a Vanyar! Thank Eru that Caranthir, Celegrom and Curufin ended up with more of my spirit.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: They are near the door to Fëanor's forge and he prepares to unlock it as she speaks.
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor) I am not trying to smother you Fëanor. I'm not trying to stop you from becoming who you are meant to be. I just want things to be right and for you to share with me as a husband should share with his wife. I have never tried to stand in your glory, even in things in which we both labored. Please Fëanor, you must be willing to...
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel, cutting her off) Press on, though many are against me. You speak of what is right, but what does that matter here in Aman? I have see sorrow, in the face of Finwë, in a place of undying yet there was death. I have heard the stories of the enemy and the war countless times, yet our foe has been released to walk among us. We should be able to venture back to the lands of our fathers but the Valar counsel against it. We are governed like cattle and you wish to govern me too. No, I will make my own destiny with my own hands. I will make a destiny that will not be beholden to anyone!
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Nerdanel is silent and sad and he goes into the forge and closes the door with a thunderous slam. A large lock is locked and the loud click makes Nerdanel shiver.

Scene: 13 - The After Party
FADE IN: EXT: Outside Finwe's Mansion in a sitting area LONG SHOT: Many guests are departing. ZOOM IN: Maglor is playing and singing. Turgon and Elenwë sit on a bench nearby.
Maglor: (sing to those around) Give me your hand, one beyond lovely. As ages past, I hold you, you hold me. Rapture fully, sweet dreams that we dream. Your beauty is immeasurable, your love is supreme.
MED. SHOT: Celegrom and Caranthir come out the mansion and walk over near Maglor
Caranthir: (to Maglor) Can you give it a rest Maglor, or at least sing a more adventurous song?
Celegrom: (to Maglor) I wish that you would sing about the hunt or the two trees; anything but the longings of the heart.
Maglor: (to both brothers) Young brothers, you must realize that love is an adventure; probably the greatest and most perilous one to take.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Turgon and Elenwë holding hands, sitting
Turgon: (to Maglor, happy, loud) Play on cousin, not everyone dislikes your song!
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Maglor, Celegrom, Caranthir
Maglor: (to Turgon) Thank you very much cousin Turgon.
Caranthir: (to all) I guess for some, it takes very little to satisfy. I will be leaving then. Farewell brothers, cousins.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT CONT'D: Caranthir leaves.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: MOVING SHOT: Elenwë stands and pulls on Turgon to get him to stand; they walk over to Maglor and Celegrom.
Elenwë: (to Maglor, then Turgon) Maglor, please continue. (pause) I feel like dancing again.
Turgon: (to Elenwë, laughing) I have danced enough for this day. Of my many skills my dear Elenwë, dancing, is not my strongest though I like it.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: They laugh at each other. Finrod and Galadriel enter the square and come towards the small group
Finrod: (to Turgon and Elenwë) Turgon and Elenwë are still enjoying the evening I see. You two seem quite please with each other, as usual.
Galadriel: (to all) Yes indeed they are. Oh how I wish that I could find one to share fair days with, instead of my brothers.
Elenwë: (to Galadriel) You should ask your brother Finrod here for the secret of attraction. I saw him with someone very fair at the feast.
Turgon: (to all, grinning) Has Finrod done well enough to proceed down the path to the point of giving silver rings?
Finrod: (to all, smiling) No, not yet, but hopefully...
Galadriel: (to all, interrupting Finrod) Attracting is not a problem; it is the quality of the prospect that is a little disheartening.
Celegrom: (to Galadriel) Perhaps your standards are too high Galadriel.
Galadriel: (to Celegrom, sincerely) No cousin. I do not believe that they are.
Elenwë: (to Galadriel, giggling) You can stand next to Maglor as he sings a sweet song.
Maglor: (to all, jokingly) The outcome would be questionable. Canathir recently had no benefit from it. Only Maedhros has had decent results.
Galadriel: (to Maglor, laughing) Ah, but your brother Maedhros can not help but be notice, towering over everyone, and he is somewhat fair looking.
Elenwë: (to all, laughing) Yes, his height with that head of hair makes him hard to miss, although, we have jested many times, as to "where is Maedhros?" in the crowd.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: They all laugh a little. Maedhros, Fingon and Aredhel come out of Finwë's door and join the group
Galadriel: (to cousins, low laughter) Oh my, speak and he shall come. Hello cousins Maedhros and Fingon and Aredhel, welcome to our happy little discussion of life and love, or maybe the lack of it depending on who you are.
Aredhel: (to Galadriel, to Finrod) You are not alone if you are in the latter position cousin Galadriel; the best to you Finrod, and your lady Amarië.
Elenwë: (to Finrod) Vanyar named Amarië? How nice; I think I know her kin.
Celegrom: (to Finrod and all, sarcastically) I am sure Galadriel has looked into it to make sure she meets the standards.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: The wind picks up; loud hoofs sound. AUDIO F/X: Loud horse hoofs, Wind blowing
MED. SHOT: MOVING SHOT: Oromë rides from out from an alley on the side of Finwë's house with Huan
Oromë: (to all) Eldar, farewell; may honor and joy be thine.
Celegrom: (to Oromë) Were to Lord Oromë? Is the hunt on again for you?
Oromë: (to Celegrom) The hunt is ever on. Though sometimes paused, it shall not end until all fell things are subdued. I will leave behind Huan my hound; be about his care though he needs little.
Celegrom: (to Oromë) Yes Lord Oromë.
MED. SHOT: Oromë leaves Huan and departs as the elves bow
Celegrom: (to himself and all) Will I ever hunt in Middle Earth? I would like to journey there, even for a short while. There is also some, rumor, about "another people" in that land.
Galadriel: (to Celegrom and all) Now that is interesting. I have been curious for a long while about the old realms of Middle Earth.
Finrod: (to all) I have heard things recently about possible inhabitants, I can not remember from where... CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Fingon and Maedhros
Fingon: (to all) The Valar would have spoken to us about such strange matters. It would be unwise to leave here for uncertainty.
ZOOM IN SLOW: ISOLATE: Maedhros
Maedhros: (to all) Some elves did not come to Aman and those long distant kin may have survived, but I agree with Fingon. We would be made aware of something as strange as what you have mentioned. It is just wild stories for idle minds.

Scene: 14 - The Silmarils
FADE IN: INT: Finwe's Mansion MED. SHOT: Finwë is in the atrium pacing; Aulë comes in
Aulë: (to Finwë) Greetings Finwë, I see that thou are ready.
Finwë: (to Aulë) Yes Lord Aulë. My prayer is that all goes well.
Aulë: (to Finwë) So is this a dire situation that we go to? I felt that there was some discontentment at the feast, but that was many days ago. Surly things have bettered since then.
Finwë: (to Aulë) Nerdanel now dwells at Mahtan's house, but Indis has sent word for her to come and stay here for a time. Fëanor has not been seen for many days save once near the two trees.
Aulë: (to Finwë) My, my, Mahtan had not informed me of these ill tidings. Resolution must be forthcoming.
Finwë: (to Aulë) I agree. That is why I would like for you to come with me and speak to Fëanor. I believe he would listen to your wisdom; you have been a friend and have taught us so much.
Aulë: (to Finwë) Much lore of the making of things yea, but this is a matter of the heart. Then again, I am not foreign to over passion in creating, and the consequences of it. (sighs) Let us go.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Going to the entry, Finwë turns towards the banquet hall, notices light shining from under the doors. ANGLE ON: Light like tree light shines from under the doors BACK TO SCENE: Aulë then notices it too. They go in that direction
Finwë: (to himself, low) The room always has light but not like...
Aulë: (to Finwë) I must have missed that thy hall has a view of the trees
Finwë: It does not. You can only see them directly from the tower.
MOVING SHOT: The light disappears. They enter in and see Fëanor sitting at the right side of Finwë's chair.
Fëanor: (to Finwë, to Aulë) Hello father, greetings Lord Aulë.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Fëanor stands and bows. A heavy iron box that is sparsely decorated is on the table by Fëanor. CUT BACK: MED. SHOT: MOVING SHOT: Finwë approaches Fëanor
Finwë: (to Fëanor, puzzled) What have you been...why are you...how did you arrive?
Fëanor: (to Finwë) I came by the servant's door to see you, and to show you that I am forever your servant, subject, and son. CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Aulë a little frustrated
Aulë: (to Feanor) Thy father had concerns for thee Fëanor. We were headed to find thee.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Finwë walks up next to Fëanor
Fëanor: Now that trip is unnecessary for here I am. Father, come to your seat for a moment, for one that is accused of never sharing, wishes to share something with you.
TWO SHOT CONT'D: Finwë slowly sits as Fëanor stands
Finwë: (to Fëanor) Now, what is this all about Fëanor?
Fëanor: It is about honor and respect. The things that are said I lack for others but open this box and see if it is so.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Finwë opens the box and the light instantly fills the room. It is the light of the two trees mingled
Finwë: (to Fëanor, awestruck) Oh my, Oh Eru Iluvatar! This, this is the light of Telperion and Laurelin! CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Finwë grasps Fëanor's arm; Aulë comes around to take a look
Finwë: (to Fëanor) My son Curufinwë, my heart is full of joy and lungs short of air!
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Finwë slowly reaches into the box and removes the three jewels. Aulë has a very surprised look
Aulë: (to himself, low) Is that crystal with the light of Aman in them? No, it can not be crystal. How is the light, where is the light...
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Aulë goes deep into puzzled thought ZOOM OUT SLOW: Servants of the household come in to see
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Fëanor and Finwë
Fëanor: (to Finwë) Your eyes are the first to see them in all of Aman, save mine. They have been in my mind for countless days, but just recently, they allowed me to bring them into being; for you to behold them. Honor and respect to you father.
Finwë: (to Fëanor, very happy) They are precious and wonderful Fëanor; the light of the trees dwelling in my grasp. You do me a great honor my son. Talk of this will never cease. They must be known to all. Let all of Aman see the wonders that Fëanor have made!
TWO SHOT CONT'D: He stands excitedly and Fëanor has a satisfied smile. PAN ACROSS: the room showing other elves in awe and joyful.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Aulë Aulë: (to Fëanor, excited) Fëanor, something like this must be presented to Manwë and the reset of the Valar. The festival of First fruits draws near, maybe then...uh, hum; I am at a loss as to what else to say other than this is a most wonderful, terrific, surprising day in Aman!
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Finwë and Fëanor stand together, side by side, as each lend a hand to hold up the jewels with other arm hugging each other. Fëanor and Finwë are smiling greatly.

Scene: 15 - The Hollowing of the Silmarils
DISSOLVE: EXT: Taniquetil EXTRA LONG SHOT: View of Valinor from high Taniquetil. The light of the Mindon is shining in the far distance. PAN ACROSS: Mountain slopes to a grand roadway with Fëanor coming, Finwë on one side and Maedhros on the other. ZOOM IN: Fëanor's other sons are behind him, then Fingolfin, Finarfin, and their wives and children. Vanyar elves line both sides of the road and sing softly.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Fëanor, Finwë, and Maedhros walking
Finwë: (to Fëanor) Fëanor, this honor is beyond any that the Noldor have ever received. Pride and joy you have given me Curufinwë.
Fëanor: (to Finwë) They are yours to have father. I have always sought to please you, even if my path has troubled you now and then. Whatever glory I receive is yours also. I just wish that Lord Aulë had not arranged this so soon.
Finwë: (to Fëanor) Is my fiery son becoming meek and modest? Ha, hah, oh my Fëanor, embrace this moment for you overly deserve recognition. You have said yourself many times that you seek to bless me and all Aman. You have done so my son!
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: MOVING SHOT: Aulë makes his way through a crowd of spectacular Maiar and hurries to Finwë and Fëanor.
Aulë: (Fëanor and Finwë) Finwë, Fëanor, we are to gather in Manwë's courts where the Festival of First Fruits is to begin.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: They follow Aulë into the grand courts. Manwë, Varda, Yavanna, and Nienna are sitting but Mandos is standing. Eonwë guides Fëanor and Finwë to Manwë.
Manwë: (to Finwë) Finwë, blessings to thee and thy people, and it seems that thy son has already blessed thee with something wonderful.
Finwë: (to Manwë) Greetings King Manwë, Lord of the Breath of Arda, and yes my son Curufinwë, Fëanor, has blessed me almost beyond my words to tell of it.
Manwë: (to Fëanor) Fëanor, come forth to us and let us see the subject of wondrous rumor.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: ISOLATE: Fëanor steps closer. He takes from underneath his cloak, a container covered by a wonderfully weaved cloth. Faint light is seen through the material. He uncovers the container and takes out an opaque crystal casket. The light is subdued until he opens the casket. He bows and holds the jewels up toward Manwë.
Manwë: (to Fëanor, very pleased) So it is true, for I had glimpsed a light like unto the two trees that did not come forth from them; it moved about briefly in Tirion and then was hid. These jewels thy have wrought are an astonishment Fëanor, son of Finwë. Thy craft is remarkable and skill unsurpassed by any of the children of Iluvatar. What say thou Yavanna of this?
Yavanna: (to all) Indeed a wonders beyond wonders. Are they much lesser than the trees themselves? May be so, but not by large degree; they are close kin in splendor and wonder for they were crafted by the one of the beloved here in Aman.
Nienne: (to all) These are a symbol of hope against all hurt that has gone before. They are now the rarest creation by Eldar hand with everlasting beauty to drive away fear and sorrow.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Varda stands and steps toward Fëanor
Varda: (to Fëanor) Fëanor of the house of Finwë, may I hold thy blessings?
Fëanor: (to Varda) Well...yes my lady, Queen Varda, of course you may.
TWO SHOT CONT'D: He reluctantly places the jewels in her hands. Varda then raises them up to the sky.
Varda: (to Eru, to all) Behold the Silmarils, the mighty jewels of light that were wrought in the Blessed Realm. They indeed hold in them the light of Telperion and Laurelin, the two trees of Valinor. Untainted, clean, and now holy in the realm of what is. Symbolizing purity, spirits free and devotion to the righteous will of Eru Iluvatar; no hands unclean, no heart of evil and full of malice shall ever touch these with out being burned with the fire of everlasting anguish. Let all rejoice at the sight of them and be forever glad.
ANGLE ON: Jewels shine extra bright; then with many colors. BACK TO SCENE: LONG SHOT: Everyone is in awe with wide eyes and open mouths; then smiles and laughter coming quickly after. The Vanyar start a song and many others join in.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Varda gives the silmarils back to Fëanor who is still awed CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Finwë walks close to Fëanor and both walk away
Finwë: (to Fëanor) Fëanor, son, are you alright?
Fëanor: (to Finwë) Yes father, they just seem...new...to me again, and more.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Aulë walks with them to join the rest of the elves who have come. They past Mandos and he speaks.
Mandos: (to all, very loud) Fëanor has made wonders beyond wonders here in Aman and locked in these jewels are the fate of land, sea and air!
MED. SHOT CONT'D: The music dies down for a brief moment and then picks back up. Fëanor and Finwë look puzzled at Aulë.
Fëanor: (to Aulë) What does Mandos mean Lord Aulë?
Aulë: (to Fëanor, laughs) Who can tell? Námo is always speaking with preponderating vagueness.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Fëanor's sons gather around him and the Vanyar encircle them all with singing and dancing. ZOOM OUT SLOW: Fëanor attaches the silmarils to a necklace and puts it on. Fingolfin, Finarfin are some distance away, and Melkor looks on from behind a stone pillar.

Scene: 16 - The Seeds of Melkor
DISSOLVE: EXT: Streets of Valmar LONG SHOT: Fingolfin and Finarfin walk together on the streets of Valmar.
Fingolfin: (to Finarfin) I am reluctant to speak to father about anything concerning Fëanor. Since the hollowing of the jewels, he sees less wrong then ever in Fëanor's actions.
Finarfin: (to Fingolfin) Our brother has always been proud. Is it a surprise that he would value himself even more now than in the past? Father's favorable view of him is nothing new either, but I am hopeful that Lord Aulë can assist in making things fair.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Fingolfin stops and causes Finarfin to halt on a quiet corner street. He looks around cautiously
Fingolfin: (to Finarfin, quieter) They must be made better Finarfin, at least tolerable, and that seems hard pressed to ask for even in Aman when you deal with Fëanor. Aulë has sway with all the Noldor, still, father tried to enlist his help before...
CUT TO: MED SHOT: MOVING SHOT: A tall, dark, colorful, but translucent figure comes toward them. It takes a more solid shape as it approaches and reveals itself to be Melkor
Melkor: (to both) Hail sons of Finwë, greetings and salutations to the princes of the Noldor. I hope that thy trek from Tirion to city of the Valar was full of bliss and uneventful, although it seems as if your business here is not casual.
Fingolfin: (to Melkor) Greetings Lord Melkor, we were on our way to inquire of Lord Aulë on a...small...family matter.
Melkor: (to both) Allow me to walk with thee for I am headed that way also.
Finarfin: (to Melkor) Of course Lord Melkor, thank you for your presence.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: MOVING SHOT: Fingolfin and Finarfin seem uneasy as they walk with Melkor walking between them
Melkor: (to Fingolfin) Does a small matter weigh so heavily on the hearts of the mighty? I am no stranger to what strife can do to a family. It is good that you seek council of someone you trust and is wise, like Aulë. Harmony may yet be achieved, but, to be truly prepared, other measures may need to be taken that my friend Aulë would not bring forth.
Fingolfin: (to Melkor) What are these things that Aulë would not reveal to us when he has been open and forth coming on so many matters?
Melkor: (to both) Has he, or for that matter, have they? Have the Valar revealed all to thee on every point that thou have pressed?
Finarfin: (to Melkor) I believe they have done all that they can to make sure we grow in strength and wisdom. They would not hold back knowledge that would be crucial to us as a people.
Melkor: (to both) Perhaps they would not, but Fëanor grows in honor and worth in Finwë's eyes, and indeed, in the eyes of all Aman since he brought forth the amazing jewels. The silmarils are...so wonderful, so spectacular. I think the Valar would hesitate to intervene in any matter concerning Fëanor now. Thou cannot always depend on others for security and resolution. A time may come in which thou may need to make thine own houses secure, as well as your rights as princes.
Fingolfin: (to Melkor) There maybe some merit in what you say. Sons of Finwë ought to be able to make a stand on their own; still, it is prudent to press the issue to Aulë first.
Melkor: (to both) As thou sees fit, oh fair princes of the Noldor.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Aulë's Mansion. PAN TO: the street in front of the building to show the three approaching
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Melkor eyes glint like rubies. He smiles and stops short of the path leading to the entrance.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: The three near the path to the entrance. Fingolfin and Finarfin turn to him.
Finarfin: (to Melkor) Lord Melkor?
Melkor: (to Finarfin, then both) Ah, it is nothing dear Finarfin. I have become aware of a need of me elsewhere. I will visit Blacksmith Aulë another day or even perhaps at the next gathering of the people of Tirion for festival. I hope the silmarils are present....they are so exquisite. Farewell lords of the Noldor!
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Melkor again becomes slightly translucent and faded. He seems to guide through the air in the opposite direction of Aulë's house.

Scene: 17 - Fëanor and Mahtan
FADE IN: EXT: Shops and streets of Tirion MED. SHOT: Mahtan and Nerdanel walk slowly down a street.
CUT TO: LONG SHOT: Fëanor is far down the street coming towards them. Nerdanel quick leaves to go inside a near by shop.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Fëanor has on a shiny helmet and light armor with a sword. Elves are surprised and amazed at the site.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Fëanor walks near and Mahtan stops him
Mahtan: (to Fëanor, concerned) Fëanor, what is the meaning of this?
Fëanor: (to Mahtan) No cause you to frown with open mouth Mahtan. Coat of arms and family crest can be displayed on metal as well as cloth.
Mahtan: (to Fëanor) We will speak of this later, for now, my chief concern is that Nerdanel...
Fëanor: (to Mahtan, cutting him off) How is she getting along, well I trust? I see that she still has a quick step as she left you in a hurry.
Mahtan: (to Mahtan) A step that would be towards you if what was offered to...
Fëanor: (to Mahtan, cutting him off) Offer what Mahtan; compromise, an apology, the ability to forgive and move on? Well, rest assured that if her heart occupies that position, then I would receive her penances gladly; for it is well known that her own doing has lead to her current situation.
Mahtan: (to Fëanor, upset, loud) How can you claim that when you neglected her so? You have pushed her away because of your ambitions and hunger for accolades and glory! Now you filled her space with the silmarils, the trophies of your so called genius!
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Fëanor's eyes flare and he puts his hand on the hilt of his sword. Then he smiles and laughs.
Fëanor: (to Mahtan, coldly) I have never seen you jealous Mahtan, nor did I think that my old teacher could ever be so. You had always warned against such emotions, even to your own daughter. Perhaps lessons that you should now review. You do Nerdanel honor by being so concerned about her wellbeing, so I credit your good intentions to this unfortunate encounter to balance the account. But do not let you heart be over zealous less you error in judgment and fall.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Fëanor and Mahtan, curious elves passing by
Mahtan: (to Fëanor, angry, loud) It will be your errors that lead to a fall. This gear that you have crafted of late is finely decorated with nice ornamentation, but they still are devices of conflict and injury. What do peaceful people need with such things?
Fëanor: (to Mahtan) The Valar used them once, and some still carry them as a testament of ages past. Cannot I share in this tradition? Do not the Valar eat, although they have no need to, only for pleasure? You say there is no war here, but cannot I still craft these for my own pleasure? Yet I tell you straight forward, that I have longed to explore the old realms of Middle Earth, and someday, what I make now may aid me in that journey.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Mahtan
Mahtan: (to Fëanor, grimly) Now regret has come to my soul, realizing that what I once taught you could be used for such purposes. Why journey off when there is much in your heart left unexplored? (pause) I can see my words and advice are of no use to one who has ascended to such heights as you have.
Fëanor: (to Mahtan, cold) It is because you have nothing worth while to offer Mahtan. I believe that you have a gross lack of...imagination.

FADE IN: INT: Mansion of Finwë - Large Sitting Room MED. SHOT: Finwë is on a big comfortable loveseat with Indis seating and leaning against him. Servants bring drink and fruit to them as they gaze out a nearby window.
CUT TO: LONG SHOT: Large doorway across the room. There is a rumble outside the room. Aulë enters but stands in the doorway
Aulë: (to Finwe, urgently) Finwë, I have a need to speak to thee immediately.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Finwë and Indis on loveseat
Finwë: (to Aulë) Greetings and good day to you Lord Aulë, please speak, what is the matter at hand?
CUT TO: LONG SHOT: Aulë at the doorway
Aulë: (to Finwë) This is the concern.
LONG SHOT CONT'D: MOVING SHOT: Aulë pulls a long sword from his side and tosses it across the room. It lands straight up, tip down, splitting a piece of fruit on the table not far from Finwë and Indis. Finwë gets up, goes over to it.
Finwë: (to Aulë) That is very impressive.
Aulë: (to Finwë) Well I say, although I was trying for the red fruit but my release was a little off and...Oh, yes, yes, the sword. I have seen a few in the past carried by the Noldor but their numbers have increased greatly. It seems that about a half of all the Noldor now wear helm, sword, and armor.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Servant comes in, goes to Finwë and whispers.
Finwë: (to the servant) Oh course, show him in.
MED. CONT'D: Servant leaves out as Finwë examines the sword
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Aule at the doorway
Aulë: (to Finwë) The Noldor have made replicas of weaponry for display and as gifts to commemorate the great war of ages past, but these, these are no mere tokens of reflection or for trimming hair.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Mahtan comes in beside Aulë and bows.
Mahtan: (to Finwë) King Finwë, I am sure that Aulë has briefed you on the goings on of the Noldor. I meant to be here sooner but it is hard to keep pace with a Vala.
Aulë: (to Mahtan) Oh, I am sorry Mahtan. I did not mean to leave thee in the dust like that. I just was so focused and got carried away in my coming.
Mahtan: (to Aulë) No need to apologize to me Lord Aulë. (to all) It seems that all the Noldor are making fell swords and high helms.
Aulë: (to Finwë) Even thine princes are in the act and Fëanor will not be seen unless armed and armored. I went to his forge at the bequest of thine other sons, but I did not find him there. His door was unlocked but no weapons or any other product for war could be seen.
Mahtan: (to Finwë) But he is making weapons somewhere nonetheless.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Finwë is silent and notes the brilliant designs on the sword and how deadly sharp it is ANGLE ON: Sword and its details BACK TO SCENE: Finwë brings the sword to Indis. His mood is now grim.
Indis: (to Aulë and Mahtan) These are very ill tidings you bring us. (to Finwë) What do you make of this my love?
Finwë: (to Indis and Aulë) The knowledge of making weapons seems to have burst forth out of nowhere. This is strange and troubling. You have long been restraint with the Noldor concerning such craft Lord Aulë. Who would have taught this to the Noldor in this hour, unless they have wandered into this dark end of knowledge, and have discovered it themselves?
Aulë: (to Finwë) Are these, the products of happenstance? I have taught many of thy people great things; it is possible their skills have increased and evolved on their own to be able to do this, perhaps, but I think not.
Mahtan: (to Finwë) This must be addressed soon King Finwë. Many are waiting to hear your word on the matter. (sighs) I now fully regret that I taught Fëanor all of Aulë's lore of metal work.
Finwë: (to Mahtan and all) Despair not your good intentions Mahtan. Thank you both for bring this concern to me. I have noticed the "pride" growing in my people but it seems that I have been lax and slow to notice the potential danger of it. They make swords and armor as if battle was at hand here in the Blessed Realm. (pause) I will convene a council of the princes and elders of the Noldor to get to the bottom of this.

Scene: 19 - Melkor's Half Truths
WIPE: EXT: Near the square in Tirion MED. SHOT: MOVING SHOT: Finrod walks with Amarië and encounters Melkor talking to a group of elves.
Melkor: (to group) ...indeed I was there when Fëanor's genius arose and the knowledge given to him manifest in the greatest of his creations; but it is not the place of a teacher to boast of his part in such matters. Let their beauty shine forth forever undimmed by needless jealousies. (to Finrod and Amarië) Greetings Prince Finrod but I wager that this is not thy sister Galadriel?
Finrod: (to Melkor) No, Lord Melkor, this is Amarië of the Vanyar.
Amarië: (to Melkor) Greetings Lord Melkor
Melkor: (to Amarië) Greetings child, be blessed. I have seen glimpses of fair Galadriel; with hair like the light of the two trees, but it seems that all the Vanyar more than rival her.
Amarië: (to Melkor, slight bow) Very fair and kind are your words Lord Melkor.
Finrod: (to Melkor) Galadriel prepares to leave for Alqualonde to visit a while with our kin. Her spirit has been restless lately, although I do not fully understand why.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Melkor
Melkor: (to Finrod) That is comprehended easily Prince Finrod. Thou are a great people of much skill and subtly of mind. Fair did the Valar make of Aman but yet...much still could be desired.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Finrod and Amarië
Amarië: (to Melkor) What more Lord Melkor? Peace and joy here cannot be found anywhere else in Arda. The light of the trees and the holy mountain continually gives long ages of bliss to enjoy.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Finrod, Amarië, Melkor and the group of elves
Melkor: (to Amarië) Yes, bliss abides for many here, but could not it be established elsewhere? Have thou not improved thy surroundings by the skills of thine own hands? Could not thou do so in lands which were originally created for thee?
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Finrod
Finrod: Why leave the fellowship of the Valar and establish peace to journey into a land filled with uncertainty?
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Finrod, Amarië, Melkor
Melkor: (to, Finrod, small laugh) Is that a question for me to answer Prince Finrod, or one that thou have pondered long over thyself? It is true that the paths in Middle Earth are uncertain but it is equally true that the timeless paths here are well worn. In error, while I spent time in those lands, I made much of it unsafe, but that was many ages ago. Certainly the Valar must have made it more secure than it was in those days.
Finrod: (to Melkor) Of course the Valar labor to mend and maintain the entire world. It is said that Lord Ulmo is present there through the waters and Lord Oromë occasionally hunts there still.
Melkor: (to Finrod) Wise Finrod, I do not mean to cause any unease in Aman. I have enjoyed my freedom here and hope to continue helping others in "this" land. Although, it strikes me odd that the Valar would maintain a land emptied of it people unless they mean for them to eventually come back to it, but then again there is... Never mind me dear children. I must be on my way to speak to the...other Valar. Be blessed and farewell.

Scene: 20 - Cousins Mischief
DISSOLVE: INT: House of Fingolfin MED. SHOT: Turgon and Elenwë sit together on an open balcony that overlooks a busy street.
Turgon: (to Elenwë) It would be nice to spend time away on the shore. I almost envy Galadriel in small part.
Elenwë: (to Turgon) Time away from me you mean. (nudges him and smiles) You know that I do not like to tarry long away from the holy mountain, or at the least Tirion.
Turgon: (to Elenwë, smiling) My sweet Elenwë, you have been married to a Noldor for quite a while now. I would not wish to ever leave you, but would you not accompany your husband on such a brief sojourn? Where is your love?
Elenwë: (smiling) At home, as you should be; but you do know that I would go.
CUT TO: EXT: Street in front of the house MED. SHOT: Aredhel looking up at the balcony with Celegrom (w/Huan) and Curufin coming into view next to her. They wave to greet Turgon and Elenwë from the street. Celegrom and Curufin are in armor with helms and swords.
Aredhel: (to Elenwë and Turgon) Greetings Elenwë and to you my brother; have you two seen Amrod or Amras? We were all to meet near here after the waning of the gold tree.
Elenwë: (to Aredhel) No Aredhel, we have not seen the twins all day.
Curufin: (to Aredhel) They should have been here by now.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Turgon and Elenwë looking down from balcony
Turgon: (to all, to Curufin) Maybe they decided to meet at Finarfin's halls instead; what is it Curufin? This seems to gravely concern you all.
Curufin: (to Turgon) An item went missing and we believe that they may have it.
Celegrom: (to all) I suppose it is my fault, trusting them with it around. It was too much temptation, now I wonder what mischief they are up to.
Turgon: (to all, to Aredhel) Mischief, what item, Aredhel what is going on?
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Aredhel, Celegrom, and Curufin look to Turgon
Aredhel: (to Turgon) Because of my love of hunting, I inquired to Celegrom about making a special bow, though not for me, but for Galadriel as a gift to have however long she stays in Alqualonde. The Teleri there still prefer such things as I, instead of these shiny swords that are now all the rage with...
Turgon: (to Aredhel, laughing) Enough already! The point is?
Celegrom: (to Turgon) The bow was leant out to me from the house of Oromë as a model to make a replica. Curufin was to complete the task but the bow went missing soon after Amrod and Amras had been by. It must be returned safely to void...embarrassment to say the least.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT CONT'D: Huan comes next to Celegrom and barks looking at a far tower behind them
Celegrom: (to Huan) What is it Huan? Do you sense something?
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Suddenly, an arrow flies in, crashes and shatters on Celegrom's armor. One more comes and splitters on Curufin's helm
Celegrom: (toward the tower, upset) Ah, so there they are! You better take cover Aredhel, in case our brothers aim fails.
CUT TO: LONG SHOT: Aredhel hustles under an arced entryway. Curufin follows her,
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Aredhel and Curufin in the entryway. He removes his helm and holds his head
Curufin: (to himself and Aredhel) That kind of hurts; even with the tips removed the wood weak. I am glad I made my own helm and reinforced it.
TWO SHOT CONT'D: A few more make shift arrows whisk through the air, near by the entryway.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Celegrom is underneath an awning across the street.
Elenwë: O.S.V. (to Celegrom, loud) Are you all alright?! That was not a very kind thing for them to do!
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Aredhel and Curufin in entryway
Aredhel: (to all, loud, upset) Not very sporting of them at all I say. Where is the challenge of hitting a static target in the middle of the street, albeit the distance involved makes...
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Celegrom under awning
Celegrom: (to Aredhel, interrupting) Aredhel let us see if we can make it around the side and back of the tower.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Maglor and Caranthir approach the group in hiding on the street and greet them. They are wearing helms and armor
Maglor: (to all) Greetings, where are the others, and why does it seem that you are hiding from something?
Turgon: O.S.V. (to Maglor) It may do you good to get out from the middle of the street.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Arrows pepper Maglor and Caranthir. They try to dodge, duck and parry them
Caranthir: (to all, surprised, upset) What in the name of Eru, Manwë, and the holy mountain is going on?
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Maglor and Caranthir both rush to the building where Celegrom shelters
Maglor: (to Celegrom) Let me guess, Amrod and Amras are the culprits?
Celegrom: (to Maglor) And they have a bow from the house of Oromë.
Caranthir: (to both) That is a bow from Oromë? Not good. They may mean us no permanent harm, but carelessness could still put out an eye.
Maglor: (to both) You would think that by now they would have outgrown such pranks. Well, let us put an end to this. We can...
Aredhel: O.S.V. (to the three, loud) What are you making ready to do?
Celegrom: (to Aredhel) You and Curufin stay put while we make our way to the tower.
CUT TO: LONG SHOT: Elenwë and Turgon looking down into the street
Elenwë: (loudly, happy) The rescuers have come!
Maglor: (to Elenwë) Rescuers; what do you mean Elenwë?!
LONG SHOT CONT'D: She points down the street from which the arrows were coming and they all turn and look. CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Coming towards them are Maedhros and Fingon walking together with the twins behind them and Aegnor with Angrod in the rear.
Maedhros: (to all) Did someone have a bow go missing lately; one of Lord Oromë's no less?
Maglor: O.S.V.(to Maedhros) Well thank you, by Eru thank you, for corralling these two.
Fingon: (to Maglor) It was not by our skill alone that we came by these mischievous Noldor, we where helped greatly by Huan.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Those in hiding come out and meet them
Celegrom: (to Fingon) He did warn us first and then vanished suddenly.
Aegnor: (to all) We were coming across the court yard several streets back and he nearly bowled us over.
Maedhros: (to Celegrom) We did not see you anywhere around and perceive that he had an urgent errand, so we followed him.
Amras: (to all) By Aulë I did not expect him to come so quick and quietly.
Amrod: (to all, laughing) Indeed, he flew in like the wind and pounced on us!
Celegrom: [to twins, sternly] Oh, it is comedy to you both? I should...never mind, where is the bow and why are both of your faces wet?
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Amras and Amrod
Amras: (to Celegrom) He licked us.
Amrod: (to Celegrom) I guess he decided to -
Amras: (to Celegrom) - clean us up?
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: The whole group
Aredhel: (to twins, smiling) Someone needs to help you clean up your acts
Fingon: (to all) And as for the bow...
Angrod: (to all, finishing) ...behold, Huan, the hound of Valinor and hero.
CUT TO: MED SHOT: Huan comes slowly up the street with the bow. The group laughs.

CUT TO: INT: Finarfin's House - A long hall MED. SHOT: Fingolfin sees Finarfin coming down the hall and walks towards him looking grim
Finarfin: (to Fingolfin) Hello Fingolfin, is there something wrong?
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Fingolfin is silent as they walk to a reception type area on the other side of the entryway.
Fingolfin: (to Finarfin) The council is to convene soon to discuss the current affairs of the Noldor, particularly the making of weapons and armor. Some find such things, unsettling.
Finarfin: (to Fingolfin) Yes, I plan to leave for father's hall soon. Are many ill at ease by the display of colors and family crest on such items? No one hinders any who wishes to do so or not.
Fingolfin: (to Finarfin) It may be that "one" wishes to hinder us Finarfin.
Finarfin: (to Fingolfin) What do you mean?
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Fingolfin
Fingolfin: It is rumored that Fëanor wishes now to wholly push us aside. With the silmarils securing his fame in Aman and forever putting him in the good graces of father, he now looks to strike against us.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Finarfin
Finarfin: (to Fingolfin) But surly father would not allow Fëanor to keep strength of arms while stripping us of our protection and Lord Aulë has promised to speak to Fëanor on our behalf.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Fingolfin
Fingolfin: (to Finarfin) Aulë has attempted reach Fëanor to council, but he has not succeeded. I fear the secret truth of it all; that while King Finwë loves us and our mother, gross favor will always be given to Fëanor. They say, Fëanor closely resembles his mother in face, and so father is ever reminded of his first love, and lost, when he looks upon him.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Finarfin and Fingolfin
Finarfin: (to Fingolfin) Yes, but we have received father's love given to us without hesitation. Still, if any of what you say is true...
Fingolfin: (to Finarfin) I will go to father before the council convenes and hope that he will hear me out. Stay here and see Galadriel off. (sigh) She may have the right idea; leaving Tirion for a while. Calm can come to the soul by listening to the sea.
Finarfin: (to Fingolfin, sad laugh) Ha, she has greater ambitions than that. She hopes for far off places and even mentioned her desire to speak to Manwë about it. I dissuaded her from doing so and directed her to visit Olwë and her kin by the sea. I hope this will appease her and keep the notion from spreading to the other children.
Fingolfin: (to Finarfin) Then I leave you to deal with restless hearts here while I go to speak to father. Be well blessed Finarfin and pray to Eru Iluvatar that I am successful.
TWO SHOT CONT'D: Fingolfin shoulder hugs Finarfin and turns to leave. Finarfin looks out a near window and sees Turgon, Elenwë and the other kin arrive in front of the house

Fingolfin: (to Finwë) There is much to say but my words seem to fail me now. (pause) I feel that there is some hidden danger brewing.
Finwë: (to Fingolfin) Yes, that feeling has come to reside in my heart lately. It is why the council was called.
Fingolfin: (to Finwë) Yes, yes indeed, but I believe that one of your sons may be adding to this prevailing climate. (pause) King and Father, will you not seek to restrain the pride of Curufinwë, who is called the spirit of fire all too true?
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Finwë
Finwë: (to Fingolfin, sad) Long has the enmity been between my sons. I have tried to bring my house together yet little has been accomplished in that regard I know. Fëanor's heart and mind are so bold and bright. It is difficult to constrain them.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Fingolfin
Fingolfin: (to Finwë) I am well aware of Fëanor's attitude towards many things, but now he speaks and gives edicts as if he were a King of some realm. What right does he speak for all our people? It was you, father, which long ago spoke to the elves about the summons of the Valar. You lead our people on the dangerous roads of Middle-earth to the light of Valinor. You must know, I and hope you still care, that you have two sons that remember your great deeds and honor your word.
CUT TO: LONG SHOT: Large double doors swing open with a loud sound. Fëanor marches in boldly and in full armor with sword
Fëanor: (to Fingolfin, loud, angry) So, it is even as I suspected! My half-brother tries to be ahead of me with the heart of my father as in all other matters!
CUT TO: LONG SHOT: Elves rush in to see what is going on. Fëanor continues to approach Fingolfin. Fëanor stops a short distance away and draws his sword.
Finwë: (to Fëanor) Fëanor, this is not honorable my son.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Fëanor and Fingolfin
Fëanor: (to Finwe, to Fingolfin) I am just putting things in their proper order father, no disrespect intended towards you. (pause) Fingolfin, know that once you are first, you can never be last. Take your due place!
TWO SHOT CONT'D: MOVING SHOT: Fingolfin bows to Finwë and leaves. He walks to the open doors. Elves are inside and outside watching. Fëanor follows and stops him outside the doors by putting his sword to his chest.
Fëanor: (to Fingolfin, cold, harsh) See, half-brother, this is sharper than your tongue. Try once more to usurp my place in the love of my father and maybe it will rid the Noldor of one that seeks to be the master of thralls.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Fingolfin is silent. He gently moves away from the sword and walks down the steps to the square. Fëanor sheaths his sword.

Scene: 23 - Repercussions at Fëanor's Forge
DISSOLVE: INT: Fëanor's Forge MED. SHOT: Fëanor is seated at a table admiring the silmarils. He hears someone at the door. He locks the jewels up, then goes and opens the door with hand on hilt.
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel) What in Eru's name do you want Nerdanel? Why do you trouble me now after the long time that you have been away?
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor) You must go back and apologize. What you have done...
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel, interrupting) I should have done much sooner and left a mark on Fingolfin's neck as a reminder.
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor, dismayed) Cease your mad talk and reconcile this situation! All of Tirion is up in arms about this with vicious gossip and vile rumor spreading everywhere!
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel) I will not. I have done what needed to be done.
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor, upset) Why Fëanor? Why did you do such a thing?!
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel, coldly) My brother needed to be put in his place. Is it too hard for you to see that?
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor) All I see is envy and selfishness.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Fëanor upset
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel) Then you are truly blind, more than I once thought. My brother means to replace the House of Fëanor with the House of Fingolfin and bring along Finarfin as his lackey. I will not tolerate this!
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Fëanor and Nerdanel
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor) He has never made such a claim. How did you get this idea?
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel) I caught him in the act when I arrived at my father’s door. He and that mother of his have always tried to gain influence over my father. She being so base to play on Finwë's grief and marrying him, so he could father her two weakly sons with the hope of gaining his authority.
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor) Fëanor, stop with this reckless talk! Don't be foolish!
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel) Of all the opportunities you have had to come to my door, you venture here as an agent on their behalf?! How dare you come in here and defend them! I knew that you would prove to be weak and unworthy.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Nerdanel
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor, near tears) How can you speak of unworthiness? You care for none who do not continually praise you for your creations. You neglect all but wish them to fall in line with every whim that you proclaim. Now you have out done yourself in acts of selfishness and dishonor.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Aulë comes in with haste; grim.
Aulë: (to Fëanor) I have come to get the news from thee Fëanor, and not second hand. What happened at thy father's house?
Fëanor: (to Aulë, cold smile) Clarity was ushered in Lord Aulë; that is all.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Aulë
Aulë: (to Fëanor, concerned) Fëanor, the account is on its way up Taniquetil. I would like to help resolve this before Manwë inquires, but thou must let me know what is going on.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: All Three
Nerdanel: (to Aulë) The mighty Fëanor has added to his fame. He is now the disturber of harmony and one who threatens his brother....
Fëanor: (to Nerdanel, very angry) Enough! Let Manwë send summons to me if he wills it. For now, please leave me.
Nerdanel: (to Fëanor) With pleasure, I am overly weary trying to help someone that apparently needs no help.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Nerdanel leaves quickly out of the door.
Aulë: (to Fëanor) Fëanor, why take strife and nurse it along?
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Aulë leaves and closes the door. Fëanor stares at door for a second and then he sits and looks at the box containing the silmarils. There is a loud knock on the door. He opens the door. PAN TO: Doorway with Eonwë standing there.

Scene: 24 - Fëanor's Banishment
FADE IN: INT: RING OF DOOM LONG SHOT: Valar are assembled PAN ACROSS: Valar, Maiar and a small group of elves that include Fëanor's brothers to the entrance. Fëanor comes in with his sons. Finwë stand behind him.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Eonwë before Manwë and Varda facing the group
Eonwë: (to all) Here is Fëanor, known also as Curufinwë, the son of King Finwë of the Noldor. He is Fëanor, maker of the Silmarils.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: Eonwë moves to allow Mandos to approach
Mandos: (to Fëanor) It is known to us of thine actions in Tirion against thine own kin, thy brother no less. With weapon in hand, thou threaten his life. These witnesses testify of the incident. What say thou of the charge?
CUT TO: MED SHOT: Mandos, Fëanor, and Finwë
Fëanor: (to Mandos, to all) I have done many things with passion and courage; you can add that account to the list.
Mandos: (to Fëanor) Thou know well Fëanor; that such an action is unlawful and is of no small matter.
Fëanor: (to Mandos, to all) Are my actions to be the only ones examined when many have aided in bring forth this hour at hand? I work alone in peacefully solitude as you know, but this was not achieved by myself solely.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Manwë and Varda
Varda: (to Fëanor) What do thou speak of Fëanor?
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Fëanor
Fëanor: (to all) I say that my brothers seek to have their own positions improved up on. They error in their design to achieve this, but can any blame them for their desire to do so? We are all held in a land fair and pleasant, yes, yet it is small of opportunity for those that were designed for larger realms.
Yavanna: (to Fëanor) It was wise for the Eldar to heed the invitation and come to Aman.
Fëanor: (to It seemed wise to the then ambassadors of the elves at the time, but as many ages past, it is apparent that we were meant for far greater than what can be found in Aman. We have achieved much, and have graduated from the lowly appetencies that we once were. Is not the land of Middle-earth now safe for our return, if not, why so after these many years? If it is safe, why do you advise us to tarry here longer? Is there some secret knowledge left for you to impart on such a great people as the Noldor; greater than the Silmarils that I have created? Lord Melkor has spoken and concurred with much of what I say.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Oromë and Tulkas
Oromë: (to Fëanor, then Manwë) Thou mention Melkor? Manwë, did thou hear?
Tulkas: (to Fëanor) What of Melkor and his words Noldo?
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Fëanor, Finwe, Maedhros, Maglor
Fëanor: (to Oromë, to all) He has echoed things that I long suspected, and relieved much about Middle-earth that many have kept silent about.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Manwë
Manwë: (to Tulkas) Tulkas, be off and find him.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Tulkas looks at Manwë and bows quickly and leaves in a flash. Everyone is talking and uneasy.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Manwë
Manwë: (to Fëanor, then Mandos) The root has been uncovered so now we may draw the proper conclusion, yet Fëanor is not without fault. Although Melkor has put forth words of confusion to create strife, thou, Fëanor, thine actions against thy brother are grossly wrong. Mandos, proceed.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Mandos, Fëanor, and Finwë,
Mandos: Thou spoke to Fingolfin of thralldom, but if this condition is so, then thou cannot escape it for Manwë Sulimo is High King of all of Arda. Thine actions were unlawful here and would equally be so anywhere else in the world. So thy doom is banishment from Tirion where this act took place for the space of twelve years. After which, there will be opportunity to set this matter aside in peace, if your brother Fingolfin releases you from further debt.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Fingolfin steps forward.
Fingolfin: (to all) I shall make it known now, that I do release my brother Fëanor.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Eonwë in front of the seated Manwë and Varda
Eonwë: (to all) Judgment has been given that Fëanor will be banished from Tirion for twelve years. The lies of the Melkor have been uncovered and he may seek to escape Aman; let all who see him report to the Valar so that he may be brought in to answer for his devious offences.
CUT TO: LONG SHOT: Fëanor goes towards the exit with his sons and Finwe

Scene: 25 - Reports and Briefings
FADE IN: LONG SHOT: MOVING SHOT: The Calacirya (mountains/pass) through to Tirion and then up Taniquetil to Manwë's and Varda's Mansion. ZOOM IN: MED. SHOT: Oromë is seated next to Nienna and Mandos is standing near the Manwë and Varda on throne like chairs. Tulkas comes into the grand hall/atrium.
Oromë: (to Tulkas) So there thou are finally.
Tulkas: (to Oromë, laughing) Ha, it is no labor for thee to patrol, since poor Nahar puts forth all the effort of hauling thee around. Certainly thou saw me approaching from afar.
Oromë: (to Tulkas, smiling] Yea, we notice thee skipping and hopping through the fields.
MED. SHOT CONT'D: All laugh but Nienna just smiles slightly. Yavanna and Aulë arrive
Yavanna: (to all) Apologies for our delay, someone would not leave their work.
Tulkas: (to all) My dear Yavanna gets no complaints when she spends a year watching some sprout germinate; but still apologies to all.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Manwë and Varda
Manwë: (to Aulë) No need Aulë; this is not a formal meeting but just a short briefing as to the status of things.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Oromë, Tulkas, Yavanna and Aulë
Oromë: (to all) There has not been any sighting of Melkor in almost five years, unless Tulkas has had tidings otherwise.
Tulkas: (to all) No news I am afraid and no reports have come from the sea.
Yavanna: (to all) I have seen no evidence of his presence nor has Irmo in Lorien.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Manwë
Manwë: (to all) I will take his absence as a blessing, and hope that he has truly departed Aman.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Nienna and Mandos
Nienna: (to Manwë) I pray too that thou are right Manwë. Let there be no more marring of hearts or lands.
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Aulë
Aulë: (to all) None of the Noldor has mentioned him.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Mandos and Nienna
Mandos: (to Aulë) What of Fëanor and Finwë?
CUT TO: CLOSE UP: Varda
Varda: (to Aulë) How is King Finwë? I was saddened when he decided to go into exile with Fëanor.
CUT TO: MED. SHOT: Aulë, Yavanna, Tulkas and Oromë
Aulë: (to Varda) Finwë does well at Formenos, as does his seven grandsons that also chose to be in exile with Fëanor. The leadership of the Noldor in Tirion is in Fingolfin's hands for the next seven years but he is good of heart and fair.
CUT TO: TWO SHOT: Varda and Manwë
Varda: (to Aulë) I would agree. He released Fëanor from his gross offence without hesitation.
Manwë: (to all) There must be a way to bring unity back to these who have lost it. A time of mending is at hand. Perhaps a celebration should be the catalyst. We will speak of this more when we convene at the Ring of Doom at year's end.
