Hello all, I have been messing around with a few art packages and some new (well... borrowed) video editing software (though I have no idea how to use it properly yet - so go easy on me ), and thought I would have a go at putting a simple title screen together. The idea was to have the title "The Silmarillion" fade in from black (though it could also fade in over a film image I suppose) and then just before it fades back out again, the three i's in the word (which I have shaped roughly jewel-like) glow as if they themselves were the three silmarils. The screen can then go on to fade into a new scene or subtitle or whatever. Basically it's just a rough idea I thought I would share with you guys - to see if you thought it had any potential (and to see if I was able to pull it off ). So, I've managed to find one of those free web-page services to host the small movie file, and here's the link to the 'zipped' version of the file (you'll need winzip or something similar to un-compress it)... www.angelfire.com/dragon2/hador/silm_sample.zipI hope I'm not treading on anyone's toes by attempting something like this, I just thought I would give it a try and see if anyone thinks stuff/ideas like this would be of any use to the project (even if only to use as examples of what not to do). Anyway, if you have chance to check it out and let me know what you think - that would be cool.

My school WebMarshal blocks it, infuriatingly...but I'm sure it's good!
Hador, I hate to be a pedant, but you spelt Silmarillion wrong in your post, so you might need to correct it in the title card (which I haven't seen).
Also...are we going to have the Silmarillion followed by Fall of the Noldor or whatever?

Doh! (Hador smacks himself upside the head) - now that you have pointed it out, it sticks out like a sore thumb that I spelt 'Silmarillion' wrong in the above post (that'll teach me to rush and post a message just before midnight). Anyway I just put it right. Rest assured that the small movie file is spelt correctly (so I only need one severe beating today ). If you know of somewhere else I could put the image (it's just over 1MB) - so that you are able to download it - just let me know.

Unless you can email it to me, I fear I won't be able to see it till I'm at home in a fortnight or so. But I'm sure a few other stalwart SilmFilmers will be willing to give it a go.

It took awhile to download, but that was cool! It definately would be a great intro, I would recommend introducing it to other departments and see what the other's think. It really is nice to know that we have people who can work masterpieces with the computer ;D...Then you have people like me... Keep up the excellent work! ~Ka

"angelfire" won't let me. And my techno-knowledgeable brother isn't here right now.

Thanks for the comments Ka - it's good to get some feedback Elianna - If you like, I can e-mail the file to you (it's 1.12MB in size), and this goes for anyone else who is having trouble downloading it. Just send me your e-mail address either by e-mail or by private message (my own address is in my profile).

Your welcome, anything higher than a GIF animation really entertains me... Seriously... Easily entertained? I think so... ~ Team Kassou (Zissou's cool, but this is better...)
