I got bored, so I wrote a song that might be acceptable as a final song for Fall of the Noldor. Then again, it might not.
I'll put the words here for people to give opinions on. Er... if they're not declared to be to horrible, I've got a recording of myself singing it -- very badly -- that I can send to the Gmail account for people to listen to. But I won't do that yet.
Noldolantë
Two Trees shine across the ages Lost in time and far from sight Darkness fell in blessed Aman Morgoth fled, Noldor took flight.
Now we wish from our new homeland To return there one time more From this world of tears and sorrow We look West to distant shores.
That world is lost forever Cut off by time and sea Our land is Middle-earth now Each one a refugee We have fall- -en, lost are we.
Noldolantë, fallen people Exiled here by our own hands Here to fight, fall bleeding, dying Staining red the ancient sands.
Tirion and Alqualondë
Valmar of the Golden Bells Far behind us, cut off from us Closer now the Iron Hells.
That world is lost forever Cut off by time and sea Our land is Middle-earth now Each one a refugee We have fall- -en, lost are we.
We are lost forever Forgotten by our kin For actions cruel and thoughtless We fight but cannot win Noldolantë
Eldarin.
So, how bad is it?

I'd have to hear it to see if I like the "We are fall / en, lost are we." lines. I do like the "Closer now are Iron Hells" line; that one's really cool.

Wonderful song writing! I'm impressed! I would have to hear it though, to have more of an experience with it. None the less brilliant though, ballads seem to be your knack... ~Ka

I'm having difficulty getting Gmail to send the stupid thing... I think I'll have to lose a lot of quality to get it down to a small enough size to get through quickly. -- unless I upload it onto one of my many Freewebs accounts. I'll try that later. And here it is: www.freewebs.com/huinesoron/Noldolante2.wavEr... it'll probably be very slow to work. And the quality's a bit low. But yes. You're probably best to right-click-save it. But it /ought/ to work.

Hmm. My computer refused to play it. I could watch the Windows Media visual stuff (its so pretty...) but I could only hear tiny random bits. Now I'm trying saving it.

It is very quiet, because my microphone sucks. You'll have to turn the volume up, and then you get a lot of static...

Just a little tid-bit to help with voice recording: I've heard it helps if you put a blanket over your head and the mic when recording. It cuts down on the outside noises.

That's not outside noises, though -- to get it to fit properly, I had to reduce the quality, and that created static.
I'll bear that in mind, though.

Is there any way you could put them on the group GMail account? My school server blocks downloads.

They're too big, I'm afraid.

@ Huinesoron:
Do you have notes of your song? Or even better a .mid file? Otherwise I'll try to transcript it.......let's see how this could be arranged etc.

Oh dear... I can try to work up a score for it, I suppose, but to be honest I'd forgotten this song was still on the board... well, I'll see what I can come up with.

Ooh, I like it. It would sound great accompanied by a guitar or sung a capella by a small mixed ensemble, or maybe a male/female duet.
