I'm using real actors to inspire me as to the "look" of the different characters to be in the films. Join in and vote for ten actors that you think would be "must haves" or just good choices for a live action version of The Silmarillion movie. If there is someone that is worthy but not listed, please post a reply with that person's name. ;D Also, if you feel that a certain actor would be great for a particular role, (Valar, Maiar, Feanorian, Vanyar, etc..) please post that in your reply too. The ladies will be coming up soon! 1. Daniel Craig 2. Daniel Day Lewis 3. Cillian Murphy 4. Dwayne Johnson 5. Christian Bale 6. Colin Farrell 7. Eric Stoltz 8. Ed Speleers 9. Ewan Macgregor 10. Hugh Jackman 11. James Caviezel 12. Liam Neeson 13. Gary Oldman 14. Garrett Hedlund 15. James Franco 16. Ben Barns 17. Jeremy Irons 18. Jason Carter 19. Jonathan Rhys Meyers 20. Joe Anderson 21. Johnny Depp 22. Luke Goss 23. Joseph Fiennes 24. Jude Law 25. Paul Bettany 26. Michael Fassbender 27. Miles O'Keefe 28. Ralph Lister 29. Eric Bana 30. Josh Lucas 31. Adoni Maropis 32. Ralph Fiennes 33. Rufus Sewell 34. Tom Wisdom 35. Vladimirk Kulich

I tried to get a variety of actors and I like each one for a part here or there. It was hard to pick only ten. You need some kind of star power but if I were thinking about budgets and cost, I would more likely go with a line up of Ben Barns, Tom Wisdom, Michael Fassbender, Jason Carter and the like. Click the pictures to get a closer look.

Alrighty, we have Christian Bale, James Caviezel, Liam Neeson, Gary Oldman, Jeremy Irons, Eric Bana and Rufus Sewell in the lead. All good actors and good choices. Have you voted? What say you? If you like someone like Mads Mikkelsen that is not on the poll but in the post (the max on a poll is 35 items), please make a post and indicated that you would like to vote for that actor. Official voting will continue until the end of November.Come on now and vote; don't be shy. ;D

So, I've been thinking...Garrett Hedlund as Turin. I really liked him as Murtagh in the movie Eragon, so I think he could pull off the whole dark and brooding demeanor. What say you, G, my friend?

^ ^ ^ ^^^^ ^ ^ Hah! Very funny! Why? Because I think that you may be right but no one voted for him! ;D I liked him in Eragon too. We will be narrowing down the list at the end of November. Maybe down to 25 instead of 35+ Let's see....Turin "Master of Doom"..."The Black Sword".

Okay, we have a suggestive pick for Turin, which is great, but to really get things cooking, we need a Feanor. Name three actors that could possible pull it off. I start things off with Jim Caviezel. I think he has the ability and I liked his plotting and emotion in "The Count of Monte Cristo". Of course JD, Johnny Depp (for those who don't know) ;D, can morph into anybody it seems but I rather have him play someone else. Lastly, maybe Jonathan Rhys Meyers with his intense look. Maybe Hugh Jackman? ...or at least Hugh as Finwe and Jonathan as Feanor? What say you?

I'm thinking...and it seems that the "age" factor may be a problem. Can a man look at an elf and be able to tell age? No. In LOTR, Elrond is several thousand years younger than Galadriel but you could not tell it by their looks. Will it be too weird to have father, son, mother, or daughter look only five or ten years apart? For the Valar and Maiar, should be no big deal to have older actors or younger ones but for Eol and Maeglin; a Johnny Depp and Ben Barns combo maybe more palatable than a Johnny Depp and Mads Mikkelsen duo. Your thoughts?

Hmmm...yeah, that might work better. Ben Barnes could probable do a great Maeglin. As for Feanor, Jim Caviezel is a good choice, as is Hugh Jackman...I dunno. I really have to ruminate on these things for a long time. Garrett Hedlund as Turin and (possibly) Tilda Swinton as Morwen are the only things I've got my heart set on at the moment.

I can go with Garrett Hedlund as Tuirn. I have to think about Tilda as Morwen but I can see why you mentioned her. Caviezel could realy do the job although I never thought about him until I was putting together the poll. Jackman would fit in somewhere...but exactly where, I don't know. He has smoothness and posh when needed but can get really raw and emotional too. Dye his hair blond and have him play Fingolfin? Hah! It may be easier to do the Valar first ;D

Oooh...maybe Dwayne Johnson as Tulkas instead of Melkor?

I can go with that since I'm liking Rufus more as Melkor now. Don't know how it would go over with the other fanboys and fangirls.
