How long's it been? Three years? Heh, that's about par for the course around here... Anyhow, on the offchance that anyone ever wanders through here again, I thought I'd share an actual Silmarillion audio-visual project I've been involved in. Spinning out of the Barrow-Downs has come an epic English translation of the Russian "Finrod" rock opera, a setting of the story of Beren and Luthien (up to the fall of Tol-in-Gaurhoth) to music. We have fully translated the lyrics into singable English, and provided subtitles versions of the rock opera to sing along to. ... and. And, in what may well be a first for internet Silmarillion A/V projects, we actually put all the pieces together. We have words. We have music. We have singers. And we have visuals. It's only for a tiny, tiny part of the story, but... it's there. The Duel of Finrod and Sauron, aka "He chanted song of wizardry..." It's not the SilmFilm, but I like to think Maeglin of this project would appreciate it. (We've also done The Duet of Thingol and Melian, which is slightly less iconic, but still hopefully worth a watch.) hS

Wow...and two more years have past I enjoyed the Duet or Thingol and Melian. The Duel was no longer available. Hope we can get a few more post in before another two years.

Less than a year later this time! Ye Valar, it's almost like we're both here together! Work on The Zong continues a-very-slow-pace. The English translation has moved here following Google stealing my email, and a couple of the videos are still unaccounted for. But! At least right now, we have the entirety of Act One as a single ~1 hour video, running from the awakening of the Elves to Finrod saying "I've got a great idea, why don't we swing past Tol-in-Gaurhoth on the way north?" (He doesn't actually say that, but he's totally thinking it.) hS
