Not being a person tending to orderliness, here is a script for the beginning of the Túrin movie. I had given it some thought independently earlier but this is the first time I actually wrote it.
-----
SCENE 1A
Close shot of green, swaying grass. It bursts into flame. Sounds of crackling fire.
TITLE SCREEN: SILMARILLION
The shot widens to show a scene of burning. Orcs are nearby, dragons farther away. The mountains of Thangorodrim are visible in the distance, spewing lava.
WARRIOR #1 (VO): There are so many of them...
WARRIOR #2 (VO): How can the Dark Lord be so mighty...?
Men of Dor-lómin have taken position behind some boulders. Among them are GUNDOR, the obvious leader, and the teenaged YOUNG HÚRIN.
GUNDOR: (rises up) Warriors -- (dies from orcish arrows)
(The Men hesitate.)
YOUNG HÚRIN: (rises up and raises his axe) Men of Dor-lómin, warriors, hold fast!
(Orcs charge over the boulders. Húrin slays the first one. The Men rally behind him.)
SCENE 1B
The troop retreats quickly through a thick mist. YOUNG HÚRIN is wearing a bloody bandage.
(YOUNG HÚRIN slips on the wet ground and tumbles downslope.)
YOUNG HÚRIN: Where are you all? (collapses)
(An Eagle appears from the mist and picks up YOUNG HÚRIN.)
SCENE 2A
YOUNG HÚRIN wakes up in a bed in a fine room.
YOUNG HÚRIN: Where am I?
ELF HEALER: You are in Gondolin, the hidden city of our kind. You are safe from armies of Morgoth. They will never find the way here. We saw your fight from afar and brought you here to save your life.
SCENE 2B
YOUNG HÚRIN is fully healed and dressed in fine Elven clothes. He is talking to TURGON in the royal hall. MAEGLIN stands next to TURGON.
YOUNG HÚRIN: Lord, I am but a mortal Man, and unlike the Eldar our hope and strength soon withers. It may be long years until you decide to open the leaguer and the hidden people come forth to fight the Enemy. Moreover, I did not find the road to Gondolin and do not know where exactly it lies.
TURGON: I grieve at this parting; yet in a little while, as the Eldar account it, we may meet again.
MAEGLIN: The King's grace is greater than you know, and the law is become less stern than aforetime. Or else no choice would have been given to you but to abide here to your life's end.
YOUNG HÚRIN: The King's grace is great indeed. I swear by the Powers in the West and my own honor that I keep secret all that I have seen in this realm.
TURGON: Let joy and prosperity come to you on your chosen path. Fare thee well.
SCENE 3A
Where YOUNG HÚRIN was is now adult HÚRIN. He is dressed in the Mannish idea of nice clothes and looks like an Iron Age chieftain, which is essentially what he is. MORWEN stands by his side. They are standing on the doorstep of a low thatch-roofed wooden building. There are other similar buildings around around the courtyard. Many people are seen working on various household tasks. It is sunny.
YOUNG TÚRIN comes running with a wooden sword.
YOUNG TÚRIN: Father, did you see my sword-play? Will you take me with you to the war, please? I will be Túrin the hero!
TITLE SCREEN: THE TALE OF TÚRIN
---
You may have noticed I completely cut Huor from complicating things. I am a revisionist after all. Also, the military part is somewhat changed to be more photogenic and to remove some unnecessary questions, but I don't think that has negative influence on anything.
