*shakes head* It doesn't quite work that way. You have to be invited. And I've got the things just sitting around, too, so if anyone else wants one...
So what should we do? Just one of us set it up ourselves, since all it really needs is a name and a password, or send you an e-mail with the invitation so that you can go set it up?

From what I can see the problem is going to be that there is a huge amount of male characters and most the the people on this project so far are female.
I think that animation is the way to go. That way we only have to worry about sending our voices across great distances rather then having to go cross-country(continent) to film things.
Needless to say I'm ready and willing to audition for a part and can send voice recordings if we decide to do it that way.

It's true, most of us are female. I think I might be able to recruit a few boys from my school though. I am in the Drama club, after all... I shall do this: I wouldn't mind at all having to go cross-country/continent to film things, but my parents might have something to say about that...

Most of the fandom is female, sadly. I think I may be the only male on this project. I guess I'll have to work really hard to get a microphone that works, and then volunteer for anytihng I'm needed in.
The suffering of the artist etcetera etcetera.

Yes, you do that: *grin* I'll have to dig up some people too; so many dramatically inclined people around me. I definitely wouldn't mind running around to film stuff; but, alas, I am poor, and cannot afford to do so. Plus, with animation, we won't have to worry about finding someone beautiful enough to play Luthien. Plus, I have a friend getting a degree in animation from BYU. *cackles* We will have professionality on the project! ~ Chronicler ~ PS: Luthy, do ye want to be in charge of getting us an e-mail? Ye obviously have the info to do so.

Just to add a reason why we should not do this live action is just because we would never make it look good. We'd end up having a few people in fake elven ears looking like a Monty Python scetch. It would be hard to create all the special effects and you would need an incredibly large amount of people. Some of the battles back then were ten times the size of the ones that happened in LotR. Just in case anyone didn't think of that.

That's true...I'd still like to do it, but it would require much more resources than we have available.

Guess I should start recruiting my guy-friends.....And my brothers while I'm at it. My oldest bro's a really great bass singer (was in the city's opera for a production of Rigeletto), and has a cool voice.

Maeglin is male! Yay! I'm not alone!
-- why are the two scriptwriters male? Is it a conspiracy?

Maeglin is male! Yay! I'm not alone! -- why are the two scriptwriters male? Is it a conspiracy? It's to avoid the problem that the LOTR movie had with two female script writers in that they ended up writing alot of overly heartfelt moments. No offence to femenists.

Maeglin is male! Yay! I'm not alone! -- why are the two scriptwriters male? Is it a conspiracy? I'll ditto Rose on that one; although so many of our females are homicidal and un-overly-heartfelt that I don't think it would be as much of a problem. Plus, none of the guys here have to worry about the threat of sleeping on the couch if the girls don't get their way... ~ Chronicler ~

I come with tidings of great joy. I ran into an old, male, friend of mine, who loves the Silm. His qualifications are as follows:
He's a very good artist; an Art Scholar at his school
He's recently taken up making films at his school (including, apparently, a really bad joke version of LOTR...)
He's probably got the equipment to do an audition (so I myself might even be able to have a go if I visit him)
And he can act quite well. In fact, he was one of the last three contenders for the part of Harry Potter. Honest! I think he ought to have got it, but it would have been rather an overkill as Emma Watson also came from our prep school...

Now that I've finally found this forum, my support (male support, that is) is in. I wouldn't mind voicing (or acting, if we went that way, which it looks like we are not) as many characters as needed, but no mic is a problem for me. (as is coming in late & not being 100% caught up on things)
